Delhi teen’s rented Thar SUV ends up in a crash while trying not to be spotted by parents in Noida
A Delhi minor, driving a rented Thar SUV in Noida, panicked after spotting his parents and tried to speed away in reverse. The attempt ended in a crash, leaving two people injured before police intervened.
A 17-year-old boy from Delhi rented a Mahindra Thar SUV and, while driving through Noida’s Sector 24 on Thursday, lost control of the vehicle. In an effort to avoid being noticed by his parents, he ended up crashing into several vehicles. The accident left two people injured — Pankaj, in his 40s, and Sumit, in his 30s — both of whom were caught in the chaos of the collision.
Authorities are now trying to piece together how the boy, still underage, managed to rent the car — and how his anxious parents finally tracked him down in Noida.

According to reports, Officers said that the minor walked out of his Delhi home in Kondli on Wednesday afternoon before travelling to Noida to meet a friend.
Police said that around 5 pm on Thursday, the minor was driving a rented SUV with his young friend from Noida when he noticed his parents approaching from the other side. In a rush to avoid them, he threw the vehicle into reverse and sped off in the opposite direction.
According to SK Tomar, SHO of Sector 24 police station, the minor panicked when he saw his parents and reversed the SUV at high speed to get away. In the process, he collided with two to three two-wheelers.
The vehicle rammed into a divider before stopping. In the accident, two people — Pankaj and Sumit — sustained injuries and were rushed to a local hospital. Police said both received treatment and were discharged soon after.
The matter is under investigation by the police
Officials familiar with the case, requesting anonymity, said the underage boy, who had dropped out of school, rented the Lucknow-registered Thar online for ₹4,000 using money taken from home.
Police have taken the SUV into custody and detained the boy. A case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for rash driving and causing injuries.
Shavya Goyal, Noida’s additional deputy commissioner of police, said the reasons for the boy leaving home are still under investigation, and it remains unclear how his family managed to track his location.
